July 8th will feature selections from Michael Martin Murphey’s over 45-year career.  Hit songs, Love songs, Country Songs, and Cowboy Songs will be performed with his Rio Grande Band.

A loyal American son from Texas, Michael Martin Murphey is best known for his chart-topping hits “Wildfire,” Carolina In The Pines,” “What’s Forever For,” “Long Line of Love,” “Geronimo’s Cadillac”, “Cowboy Logic,” and many more across his 35 albums released to date. Murphey’s long-running incarnation as a purveyor of the music, lifestyle, and values of the American West is one of many musical mantles he has worn over the years. To track his career path is to span the country itself, from coming of age in the Texas folk music scene to Los Angeles to Colorado to Nashville and then back to his native Texas. During the early 1970s in Austin, TX along with artists like Jerry Jeff Walker and Gary P. Nunn, Murphey created the “Cosmic Cowboy” movement, which was pivotal in drawing artists like Willie Nelson to the scene and helped birth the “Outlaw” Country movement. He is a 5-time recipient of the Wrangler award from the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum and Cowboy Hall of Fame as well as a recent recipient of their highest honor; lifetime achievement award., and boasts awards from the Academy of Country Music, Rock Music Awards, Academy of Western Music Awards, Governor of New Mexico’s Outstanding Achievement Award, Outstanding Son of Texas Award by the Texas Legislature, and multiple awards from BMI. In 2009, he was inducted into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Association Hall of Fame, joining old friends Willie Nelson, Guy Clark and Allen Shamblin. Last year he released Austinology, celebrating his early days as a pioneer of the Austin Music Scene of the 70s with guest artists that include Wilie Nelson, Steve Earle, Lyle Lovett, and many more.

Fueled by Marty Raybon’s distinctive vocals and the band’s skilled musicianship, Shenandoah became well known for delivering such hits as “Two Dozen Roses”, “Church on Cumberland Road” and “Next to You, Next to Me” as well as such achingly beautiful classics as “I Want to be Loved Like That” and the Grammy winning “Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart” duet with Alison Krauss. Shenandoah has recorded ten studio albums (3 certified gold) and placed 26 singles on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. The boys from Muscle Shoals have left a potent legacy at country radio with over a dozen #1 records.

No Depression may have said it best when they called Lee Roy Parnell “a fine writer blessed with a rich, soulful vocal delivery and a blistering array of guitar chops drawn almost equally from Texas blues, Memphis soul, and Southern rock traditions.”  Parnell is part of a long line of Texas roots-music eclectics and is among the elite few who can be identified as a triple threat. After honing his skills over more than a decade of playing clubs in Texas and New York, the Americana/Blues-Rock artist known for his guitar prowess (particularly slide guitar), smooth soul-drenched voice, and top-shelf songwriting skills laid a new foundation in Nashville.

An independent-minded singer-songwriter from the Lone Star State,  Aaron Watson began his career in the early 2000s playing country music with a classic feel in the Texas honky tonk tradition. He quickly became a staple of the state’s honky tonk circuit and enjoyed regional success on radio as well. Having more or less established himself as a purely Texas artist, he shifted slightly toward a more contemporary sound at the start of the next decade. The results spoke for themselves when he began to find a mainstream audience and chart nationally with releases like 2012’sReal Good Time and 2015’s breakout The Underdog, which hit number one on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. Even more impressive is that he achieved all of this without a record label. Rather than sign on with a major, Aaron continued to work independently, issuing albums like 2019’s Red Bandana and 2021’s American Soul on his own Big Label imprint.

Craig Campbell has never taken a backseat to anything. He’s certainly never taken a backseat in his career as one of Country’s brightest stars who launched onto the Country music scene with the smash hit “Family Man” and continues to exist in a perfect sweet spot between tradition and modernity. The release of new music in 2021, including “What A Girl Will Make You Do,” serves as the blueprint for his road ahead – songs that tug at heartstrings, push boundaries and seep in with infectious melodies. “All the songs we are writing are all very committed and current,” he says. “It’s still my heart and my voice, and the main thing I want people to take away is I’m an artist who truly loves Country music.”

Aaron Lewis grew up in Springfield, Vermont, listening to his grandparents’ country 8-tracks. Those roots inspired the multi platinum front man and founder of Staind to return to his origins and since has quietly made an impact on country music without flexing to let everyone know what a big deal he is. With a decade invested in a genre that’s seen him record with George Jones, Charlie Daniels, Vince Gill, Alison Krauss, Mickey Raphael, the Cox Family, Ben Haggard and Dan Tyminski and producer Buddy Cannon, he has claimed two #1 Billboard Country Album debuts for his albums Town Line and Sinner. Lewis’ single “Am I The Only One,” debuted on Billboard’s #1 Hot Country Song,” only the 9th
time a debut has topped the chart since 1958.  The hard touring, workingman’s star’s latest album Frayed at Both Ends was released in January of 2022, his most personal and unplugged work.
“Can I get a hallelujah, can I get an amen?” sings Texas-born, Nashville-dwelling Maren Morris on “My Church,” the lead single from her self-titled LP. Though “sing,” however, might not be the most appropriate verbiage – she belts, more like it, in her dynamic range that can growl soulfully one moment and twangily howl the next. It’s an honest performance from an artist and writer who stands out for the singular point of view, sheer creativity and fearless approach to music she’s developed since she began performing and writing as a young child. Using the boldest colors from across many genres as her palate and country as her canvas, Morris’ stories are vivid paintings that can be gleefully fun, tearfully heartbreaking and a perfect balance of modern and timeless.
